While DrillPlan aims to maintain a stable platform for integration, keeping all breaking changes to a minimum, it is inevitable that occasional replacements and deprecations of APIs or schemas may need to be implemented in order to best support the wider product development and evolution. We have therefore developed the following process to communicate these changes. This is to supplement the general DELFI deprecation policy.
- Release a new API version or schema version to production. This will be accompanied by a DrillPlan release note in GURU.
- The release note will contain the planned removal date of the previous version which will be equal to the release date + 6 months.
- The DrillPlan Developer Documentation will be updated to clearly indicate that the previous version has been deprecated e.g.
- A post in the DELFI Developer Portal News will also made announcing the release and deprecation.
- 1 month prior to the removal date, another reminder will be posted in the DELFI Developer Portal News
- Finally on the removal date, the deprecated API or schema will be decommissioned and the corresponding documentation will be removed.
